  32. BACKGROUND

  34. These days, the prerequisite for a good-looking Workbench is a high resolution,
  35. 1:1 screen.  But what about all the A1200 owners out there who, like me, can't
  36. afford a monitor?  Do we just sit and stare at a chunky blue and grey screen?  I
  37. don't think so.

  39. So MagicTV was born to bring the beauty of MagicWorkbench and MagicUserInterface
  40. to the TV-owning masses.  Hence the name.  Also, it can be shortened to MTV,
  41. which can only be a good thing.  Right?

  44. INSTALLATION

  46. *  Select a hires, interlaced, screenmode with up to 16 colours.
  47. *  Double-click on the MagicTV icon.
  48. *  Run the Prefs program if you use 16 colours.
  49. *  Drag MagicTV to your WBStartup drawer.

  52. LIMITATIONS

  54. *  MagicTV won't work with more than 16 colours (for now).
  55. *  It only works under the AGA chipset.
  56. *  Changes pointer colours (unavoidable).
  57. *  Reacts badly for a second to palette changes (unavoidable).
  58. *  Uses more CPU time than it needs.
  59. *  Problems reported with '060 cards.

  64. MagicTV 2 will be a complete rewrite of MagicTV, with the following aims:

  66. *  Prevent the flicker when screens are moved.
  67. *  Prevent the problems caused by palette changes.
  68. *  Reduce CPU usage.
  69. *  Improve compatibility.
  70. *  Eventually add 32 and 64-colour support.
  71. *  Add the ability to select which screens are fixed.
